Why BellaBella Organics loves Sauk Mountain-Sauk Mountain Lavender Farm, an organic family farm located at the base of Sauk Mountain in northeast Washington state. Sauk Mountain Lavender Farm is owned and operated by Dave & Julie Erickson, a husband and wife team. The farm is situated on 13 acres of farmland with over 200 lavender plants (and growing!), indigenous wildflowers, perennial gardens, organic fruit trees, organic berries, and a quaint cabin gift shop. Beautiful mountain views abound!
Safety-Gardening organically, she shuns chemicals, relying instead on a generous dose of homemade compost each spring and enriching the bare unplanted earth with organic chicken manure in the fall. The only irrigation comes from the pure water in the well and rainfall, and annual crops are rotated each year to keep pests to a minimum and maintain the earth’s fertility.
